Green Onion Experiment
Indoor Water Grown
We used store-bought green onions down to two inches, and placed them in a water cup to grow.
Sensory Test
We had four people compare the appearance, flavor, and texture.
Outdoor Soil Grown
We planted the green onions in soil with an orange juice carton. Opened holes in carton for ventilation.
Results: Indoor Water Grown
These green onions grew a bit faster, and required no attention to grow. However, the flavor is weaker.
Two Weeks
At around two weeks, both growth methods provided enough yield for taste testing.
Results: Outdoor Soil Grown
These green onions had much more flavor and crunchiness.
