What We Learned
Working on this project for two and a half months, our team learned a lot of gardening knowledge from websites and blogs. The most helpful resource, aside form Google, was from YouTube accounts featuring home-gardening tips. There's actually quite a few great ones. They're educational, fun to watch, and creates a sense of community, motivating us to have fun and do more with growing plants.
To successfully grow our plants, we first had to research to learn about how to successfully grow plants. The online resources we initially found were not the best, and none of the resources are completely comprehensive. As we faced challenges with our own plants, we learned more by trying to find the solution to specific problems. This observing, troubleshooting, and learning process is they key to growth. For both plants and humans, we always keep growing, as long as we continue to give effort and care.
How We Continue
This website will stay here as a space for people to see our efforts to inform you to start growing plants. We tried our best to provide resources, to help people have a good time with gardening.
The Instagram account will be updated, not as frequently, but we will keep you updated at least until the tomatoes turn red. We hope that it motivates you to grow something too, and share the joy with your friends and family.
Next Projects
If Pete's next class were to continue with a similar project, it would be great if the they could explore our website and see our challenges and lessons learned.
They could expand on the project in many ways, either relevant to current events or specifically to the team members' skill sets. For science related students, they can focus on the type of soil and fertilizers, to explore how it affects the plants. For engineers, they could work on inventing a device to make gardening fun and convenient. For design students, they can make infographics to effectively spread information to people over social media. For business students, they can practice with marketing, copywriting, and branding. Their efforts made for these projects will help them explore their career interest.
As we learned from our project, our best advice is to always do more research. If you get stuck, try searching on other platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, or anything else you know. They all provide information in different styles of delivery, and we believe it would be fun and helpful to explore in a more diverse field.
